Single to Left Field With A Man On Second Base

Responsibilities:
  • Pitcher backs up home plate
  • Catcher covers home plate
  • Catcher lines up third baseman
  • Catcher calls YELLS "CUT" and tells the third baseman where to throw the ball.
  • 1B covers 1st base.
  • 2B covers 2nd base.
  • SS goes after ball and then becomes cut off man for second base.
  • 3B becomes cut off man for throw to home plate.
  • LF fields the ball and throws the ball home low enough for the third baseman to cut it off.
  • CF backs up the LF
  • RF backs up 2nd base.

    Options:
  • A. Let the throw go through to the plate.
  • B. Cut the throw if it is off line or too late to throw the runner out at the plate. Throw to second to get the runner.
